An outdoor stone prayer altar on a gentle Ugandan hillside, carefully built with smooth, rounded local stones arranged in a low, stable rectangle. At its center rests an open Bible on a dark wooden stand, flanked by two unlit white candles and a simple earthen water jug. Lush green grass surrounds the altar, with banana trees and distant rolling hills soft in the background. Golden hour sunlight bathes the scene, creating long, soft shadows and a warm glow on the stones. Captured from a slightly elevated angle in photographic realism, the composition uses the rule of thirds, conveying mission-minded devotion, covenant, and unity with God in nature.

About

Joshua House Altar is a family ministry in Mbarara, Uganda, calling households to become mission‑minded families through 24/7 obedience, prayer, and unity, making the home the primary altar where the Gospel is visibly lived.

An abstract yet photographic representation of a ‘mission-minded family tree’ wall display, without any photos or text. On a warm-toned plaster wall hangs a large wooden tree silhouette with many branching arms. Instead of portraits, each branch holds a simple symbol: a tiny cross, a small clay house, a miniature globe, a smooth river stone, and tiny carved hearts, all carefully attached. Below the tree, a narrow wooden shelf holds an open Bible and a small lantern. Even, diffused daylight washes the wall, minimizing harsh shadows and creating a calm, focused atmosphere. Shot straight-on in photographic realism with sharp focus, the composition is clean and centered, communicating generational faith, unity, and outward mission from a Christ-centered home.

Our Leaders

A warmly lit family prayer corner without any people, featuring a simple wooden table with a well-worn open Bible, a small oil lamp, and a neatly folded woven cloth in Ugandan patterns. The table stands against an earth-toned wall adorned with a subtle cross motif and a hand-crafted clay pot with fresh green leaves. Soft late-afternoon sunlight filters through a nearby window, casting gentle patterns across the table and floor. Photographic realism at eye level, with shallow depth of field focusing on the open pages and lamp flame, while the background softly blurs. The atmosphere feels reverent, peaceful, and inviting, suggesting a space where families gather daily to seek God together.

Aarav Sharma

A night-time prayer setting in a Ugandan village courtyard, intentionally empty of people. A low, rectangular stone altar stands in the center, draped with a white cloth that catches the flicker of a single lantern at its edge. On the cloth, an open Bible and a small wooden cross lie side by side. In the background, silhouettes of simple houses and a large tree are softly outlined against a deep indigo sky with scattered stars. Photographic realism with dramatic, warm lantern lighting creates strong contrasts and gentle shadows, focusing the viewer on the altar. The mood is intimate, solemn, and expectant, suggesting families gathering quietly to seek the Lord together.

Mateo García

A modest Ugandan family living room prepared for an evening worship time, but without people present. Low wooden benches form a semi-circle around a simple central mat where a closed Bible, a small drum, and a handwritten prayer journal lie neatly arranged. The room’s cream-colored walls are accented by a single framed cross silhouette and a woven wall hanging. Warm light from a single overhead bulb and a side lantern creates cozy pools of light and soft shadows. Shot at eye level in photographic realism, with sharp focus throughout, the composition emphasizes intimate community, daily obedience, and shared family devotion without showing any individuals.

Beliefs

Rooted in Scripture, we believe Jesus is our life, prayer is our breath, unity our witness, and daily obedience our joyful response, as families abide in Him and shine as a visual Gospel in their communities.

An overhead view of a circular woven mat placed on a smooth earthen floor, prepared for a family worship gathering yet empty of people. On the mat, three open Bibles radiate outward from the center like spokes, interspersed with small wooden crosses and a single shared clay cup. A subtle ring of small stones encircles the mat, symbolizing unity and protection. Soft, diffused daylight enters from an unseen window, creating even illumination with delicate shadows around each object. Photographic realism with a clean, symmetrical composition emphasizes togetherness, shared faith, and scriptural focus in a simple Ugandan home context, evoking the feeling of families coming together in prayer and worship.
